Delay in diagnosing and receiving appropriate treatment for a perforated bowel

  • March 25, 2015
  • In early 2010 Mrs Z developed problems with her bowels and was admitted to hospital for emergency surgery.  However, there was a delay in diagnosing and receiving appropriate treatment for a perforated bowel.  As a result she developed peritonitis and died.  We represented the family at a two day inquest and successfully pursued a clinical negligence claim.  A claim was pursued under the Fatal Accident’s Act and Law Miscellaneous Provisions Act.  We managed to obtain compensation on behalf of the Claimant.  Mrs X was retired prior to the alleged negligence and her husband did not expect to secure a settlement anywhere in the region of £40,000.  However, once again Inez Brown demonstrated her skill and experience in this area and secured a much better outcome for the client.
