Fahmidah Ali and Elizabeth Wickson completed the Fire and Ice walk in Birmingham on Friday 11 March, raising a total of £1,005 for Acorns Children’s Hospice so far – over double their target!
Fahmidah braved the ‘ice’ challenge, by taking a steady approach over a trail of broken glass, while Elizabeth sped over a path of hot coals to complete the ‘fire’ challenge. Both team members made it to their finish lines with plenty of cheers from supporters.
This special event was in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, who provide specialist palliative care for life-limited and life-threatened babies, children, and young people, and support for their families, from their hospices in Worcester, Birmingham and Walsall. The money raised from this event will help their team provide essential care, from medical and emergency care to emotional support, so that each child and family can create lasting memories.
Fahmidah and Elizabeth work closely with the Worcester Hospice; speaking at the event, the pair said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and to those who came to support us on the night. We are thrilled with the funds raised – what a great way to raise money for such a special charity!”
