Spotlight on Bhavya Sharma

  1. What type of legal advice do you provide?

As a trainee solicitor in the Medical Accident Group, I work on both clinical negligence and personal injury matters. My role is really varied and involves everything from investigating new enquiries and reviewing medical records to drafting documents and helping to progress ongoing claims.

  1. Why did you choose your specialism?

What attracted me to clinical negligence and personal injury was the opportunity to help people at a time when they may be dealing with a significant change in their lives. Being part of a team that helps clients get answers and move forward is really rewarding, and I also enjoy the fact that no two cases are the same.

  1. What makes Medical Accident Group different to other clinical negligence/personal injury law firms?

For me, it’s the combination of the team’s experience and the personal approach we take with clients. As a trainee, I get to work closely with experienced lawyers across a wide variety of clinical negligence and personal injury cases, while seeing first-hand how much importance is placed on supporting each client throughout the process. The focus is always on the individual and what they need, rather than simply the legal claim.

  1. What is your most memorable outcome for a client, and why?

One of my most memorable outcomes was for a client who had been involved in a road traffic accident. We were able to secure a substantial settlement for the pain and suffering they had experienced, as well as their loss of earnings and future losses. It was particularly rewarding to see the claim reach a positive conclusion and to know that the client was really pleased with the outcome.

  1. What is your one tip to someone who may have suffered medical negligence?

My one tip would be not to be afraid to ask questions if you are concerned about the treatment you have received. If something doesn’t feel right or you don’t understand what has happened, ask for an explanation and keep a record of the information you are given. It can also be helpful to seek specialist legal advice so you understand what options may be available to you.
