Kuldeep Stohr, a children’s orthopaedic surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, is under investigation following serious concerns about the care she provided to patients.
What Happened?
In January 2025, Kuldeep Stohr was suspended from her role as a consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeon after an external review found that several of her surgical procedures had fallen “below expected standards” (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj0zqr1842jo). A senior source at the hospital reported that some children were “severely permanently harmed”, and described certain cases as “horrendous” (https://news.sky.com/story/cambridge-hospital-accused-of-covering-up-concerns-about-suspended-surgeon-a-decade-ago-13364273).
In response, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) launched a full review of more than 800 patients treated by Dr. Stohr. This included 560 children, 140 adults, and 100 emergency cases.
What Now?
CUH is reviewing all procedures performed by Dr. Stohr at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. For patients and families, discovering that you or your child may have received substandard treatment, especially years after the fact, can be deeply upsetting and confusing.
Those contacted as part of CUH’s review process, or with concerns about past treatment, are advised to seek legal advice as soon as possible. You may be entitled to compensation if harm was caused by negligent care.
