Lantern Walk

Worcester lantern walk brings bereaved together to remember their loved ones

On 12 December, Medical Accident Group’s Barbara Wright took part in the Footsteps Lantern Walk – a walk to remember loved ones at Christmas. The walk is organised by the Footsteps charity, who provide support for bereaved children and their families across Worcestershire. This year’s walk took part in Spetchley Park Gardens.

This time of year can be particularly hard for those who have lost loved ones, so it was a fantastic opportunity for people to come together and remind each other that nobody should have to walk alone. Medical Accident Group has supported the charity for a number of years; Barbara is one of the charity’s trustees They organised a ‘speed quiz’ and raised an impressive £569 for the charity, with HCR topping up the amount to £1,000.

Feedback from the event was glowing, with one person saying: “A time to remember. Footsteps, you have been so valuable to my daughter. See you next year.”

Following on from the event, Barbara said: “As a trustee, I’m always humbled when we come together to remember those we’ve lost. It’s particularly important at this time of year, when a lot of families spend time together, to remember that there are those who aren’t as fortunate.”
